What our PATIENTS and their FAMILIES are saying…
On behalf of the Shemansky Family, I want to thank the GHCC staff and Recreation Dept. for facilitating a 92nd birthday visit for our mother. You made the visit happen exactly as we hoped it would! Our Mom, was lifted from her bed, placed in a wheelchair, and then taken to the solarium, where my three sisters, my wife, and I were able to participate in a very enjoyable window visit. The GHCC staff participated in a wonderful birthday celebration for her in her room, providing her with flowers, balloons, and a chorus of 'Happy Birthday' prior to seeing her off to visit with us. Thank you all so much for your kindness! It is greatly appreciated. A special "thanks" to Pamela from Recreation, who spent the entire hour with our Mom during our visit to help her with her needs, such as eating, repeating to our Mom what we said and that she may not have heard, as well as helping her open cards and gifts that she was unable to physically handle herself. Thank you so much Pamela! You made our visit more comfortable and reassuring because of your helpfulness and kindness. We understand how difficult it has been for GHCC staff, patients, and loved ones over the past 9 months, and pray that 2021 brings some long needed relief.
To the staff at GHCC. We recently lost dad to COVID19 in April at GHCC. It is a terrible time to lose someone, as you can feel comfort & strength from the hugs if those that loved him, but this just cannot be done right now. So a lot to process lately. While you’re never ready to lose your dad, I had a beautiful sign from Mon on my drive to GHCC that night to say goodbye to dad, so Jill & I are at peace. We have been really blessed to have had our paths and that of our dad’s cross all of yours. The care & kindness that we experienced at GHCC was so very genuine, We became attached to so many of you and knew when we were not there, that you were making sure he had smiles in his day. Whether that was during “volleyball” in the dining room, or a passing hello in the nurse’s station, a song or two along the way. We know he was well cared for from the entire staff and that gives us peace of mind at home. We are so sad that we can’t come in and say thank you on person but know we have thought of each and every one of you. Your jobs have been so stressful, demanding & anxiety driven. Thank you for your commitment to care & our dad. We miss you all. -Kendra & Jill
Christine -thank you for your excellent care, miss you and the best of luck to you and your family. Please share donuts with other aids. Fondly Jane K.
